2025 / 2026 Head Coaches

The Ottawa Jr 67s Executive Board, along with the HEO D14 Executive, and HEO AAA Technical Director, have approved the following coaches for the 2024-25 AAA season.  We would like to thank all the independent coach selection committee members who assisted the club in working through all our applicants and interviews.

U12 – Michael De Lisio

We are pleased to announce Michael De Lisio as the head coach of the U12 Ottawa Jr67s team. Mike grew up playing AAA in the Niagara region going on to play junior for several years before finishing his career in USports with Queen’s University. Since 2007 he has coaches players in both Canada and in the USA ranging from IP to U16 AAA, and most recently as the Head Coach of Gloucester Rangers U11AA team.  He aims to create an environment where players are excited to play, enjoy their time on the ice with an emphasis on development, work ethic, competition and teamwork.

U13 – Ryan Steeves

Ryan Steeves is returning to the Club as the U13 Head Coach, after a successful 2024-25 season leading the U12 team. Ryan’s approach to coaching is influenced by decades of playing competitive, collegiate and professional hockey and, since 2007, coaching CIS hockey (U of O Gee-Gees men’s team) and competitive minor hockey at the AA and AAA levels. Ryan has a passion for coaching young, competitive athletes, and is known for building a team culture that helps both the player and team elevate. His approach is based on personal connections with the athletes, while creating individual and team development plans that prioritize learning, commitment, effort - and fun! As a proud and dedicated Coach within the Jr67s Club, Ryan is committed to providing the U13s with the best development experience possible!

U14 - Dylan Sharpley

Dylan Sharpley is joining the Ottawa 67s as the Head Coach for U14 AAA for the 2025-26 season. He grew up playing hockey in the Nepean area, and later the Perth Blue Wings, which included a championship win in the 2018-19 season. Moving from player to coach, he began as the Head Coach for Nepean Raiders in 2021-22 and 2022-23, growing with the U14 AA and U15 AA teams. In 2023-24 and 2024-25, he led the U12 AAA and U13 AAA teams for Ottawa Myers Automotive, leading the path to a championship victory in his first year with the team. Dylan believes that hard work, resiliency, and being a great teammate are the foundations of success. Outside of hockey, he is a CPA, serving as a Corporate Controller for Colonnade Bridgeport.

U15 - Matt Shahen

We are pleased to announce the return of Matt Shahen as our U15 Head Coach.  Matt will be returning for his third consecutive year with the 2011 cohort. Matt brings over a decade of coaching experience and is a knowledgeable skills, systems and individual tactics coach that will be looking to have another successful season.

U16 - Jamie Smith

We are pleased to have Jamie Smith return for a 8th season as a Head Coach with the Ottawa Jr 67s Hockey Club.   He’s a Hockey Canada High Performance coach with a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience and over 12 years coaching minor hockey in the Ottawa area and was recently recognized by the OHL's 67s organization as the inaugural recipient of their Community All-Stars Coaches Award. Along with coaching, he’s currently the Director of Development and coach mentor for the Gloucester Rangers and a scout for the CCHL Ottawa Jr. Senators A Club.
